Calculate the codice fiscale of a person born abroad

Enter your details as they appear in your passport and choose your country of birth. For people born outside Italy the codice fiscale uses a country code (the letter Z and three digits) instead of the Italian town of birth.

–

This is a calculation, not an official code. Your codice fiscale is valid only once the Agenzia delle Entrate issues it. If another person has the same data, the Agency assigns a different code.

Need your official codice fiscale?

We apply for it at the Agenzia delle Entrate with your delegation. We check your documents first and send you the AA4 form ready to sign.

FAQ

Codice fiscale calculator: common questions

Is the calculated codice fiscale valid?

No. It is a preview, useful to check a code or to fill in a form while you wait. It becomes valid only when the Agenzia delle Entrate assigns it and registers it.

Can I use it to open a bank account or sign a rental contract?

No. Banks, landlords and public offices ask for the official code, shown on the certificate issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate. If you don't have it yet, we can apply for you.

Why is my official codice fiscale different from the calculated one?

This happens when two people share the same data. To keep every code unique, the Agency replaces some digits with letters. It can also happen if your name was written differently in the application.

What place of birth is used for people born abroad?

Only the country. Each foreign country has its own code, made of the letter Z and three digits, and the town of birth is not used.

Does the codice fiscale cost anything?

The code itself is free. You can apply in person at an Agenzia delle Entrate office, at an Italian consulate, or ask us to do it for you with a delegation.

Do you save the data I enter?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent to us or stored.

Country codes are taken from the official list of foreign states of the Italian National Resident Population Register (ANPR). For guidance only: the official code is the one issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate.
